Dat Lurka
I have an L20B that was a basket case a month ago. I'm down to wires and hoses. There are 5 wires I'm having trouble figuring out. They are Red, White, Blue, Black with Blue Stripe, and Black. Some are spade, other bullets. I know two of them go to the solenoids on the Carb. And I think one goes on the side of the Distributor (points non Cali) that sends power to the capacitor. And maybe one goes to the spade on the distributor bolt (a ground?). And the last one possibly went to the A/C that is no longer there. Can anyone help me put these in the right spots? Electronics are my weakness. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Are you talking about the engine wiring harness wires? Which vehicle is it from? L20B came in 610, 710, 620, S10, 720, etc. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
620. I think I got it. Red on anti-diesel solenoid, White on other solenoid, Black/Blue on dist. And the other two were hanging for A/C I think. Doesn't matter. I hooked it all up and it had seemed fine. Splash of gas in the carb and it started running down the exhaust from between the two manifolds. That's twice I've had to stop my project because of the stupid combo manifolds. If I can't find some manifolds for cheap, off to the scrapyard. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Glad to hear it is running. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Not quite. Just a sputter to tell me it CAN run lol. What was hooked up to the ground spade on the base of the distributor?? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
What year is the distributor? Because it matters. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
77-78? It has a small spade near the cap and one under the mounting bolt. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The spade under the cap goes to Coil- terminal The one near the vacuum advance unit under a bolt should be onnected to a ground wire (black wire). By the way, the 1977-1978 distributors that I've seen have two wires out the side (red & green).. What is the part number on the side (should be 22100- something)? Brush off dust/grime to read the number. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Our FED spec distributors had two wires in 1978. Can't say for sure about 1977. Quote Link to comment
