As title states. Just did an alt upgrade on my L16 and need the L20 alt bracket to fit the larger alternator (larger bolt hole diameter, I want to say M10?)

 

Would have to be shipped to Los Angeles. Would consider picking it up if you're local. If you have one, do let me know.

Theres kind of a proplem with that.

L16s use the smaller bolts still on the block 2 bolts that I have seen, and the L18/20 mounts use the bigger bolts in the block 3 bolts. So I know your not going to drill out a L16 block.So it will still wiggle with the smaller bolt on a bigger dia hole.

However one can have the stock mount drilled out to 3/8 from front to back and use a long bolt with the last inch or so sticking out with threads.

 

the one shown is most like a truck type.

to be sure you have to measure but maybe if it was a late import L16 it COULD have the bigger holes. But Im wongin it on this one.

But all the common USA imported l16s that were orginal in the car truck were the small hole type.

 

unless Jun could post a photo of yours with mesuring tape across the hole dia.

Hainz, mine indeed has the smaller holes, 2 bolt.

What I think I'll do is just get/fab some sleeves to better mate the big alt hole to the smaller M8 bolt. I read somewhere that I need a L20 alt bracket, I guess this isn't the case.
