datzenmike
These are not NOS items nor OEM, although they could very well be OEM quality parts. To be NOS they would have been made by Nissan or for Nissan by someone else (the Original Equipment Manufacturer) using the Nissan name (logo), quality control oversight and packaging and never sold. If you bought it but never used it it would still be NOS technically. To be OEM they would have to be made by the same company that made it for Nissan using the same manufacturing controls and quality. For example a NABCO made master cylinder. Beck-Arnley and NAPA parts are after market or rebuilt or even manufactured in China and though the quality may approach the original Nissan part, they are not. No offense intended here it's just that the term NOS is over and misused too much these days. 1 Link to comment

datzenmike
NOS means New Old Stock, which could be aftermarket... New Old Stock parts for a Nissan would be genuine parts made long ago for a Nissan vehicle (that is likely now out of production) and kept in a Nissan warehouse or on a dealership shelf as a replacement part that was never sold or used. If you bought them and they are unused and in their original packaging they would be very close to NOS. Anything else is outside the definition. Original Equipment Manufactures (OEM) may have made the original part for Nissan, but if selling it now can only claim it as a replacement OEM part. If making it for NAPA it may say "meets OEM standards" or "OEM quality." It's a replacement part and in no way can it be Nissan NOS. NOS should be kept separate from all the other description parts because they will be the highest quality of original Nissan part. NOS would be the best choice for fit and quality and will often demand a premium price because of this. Link to comment
