gone2long
Folks, My truck is a 1979.5 Datsun, 5 speed, 4x4, apparently made in Japan. Unlike most Amverican models, it came with the Z18 instead of the usual Z20. Wondering if anyone has the initial timing specs for the Z18. I know that the L18 spec is 3 degrees BTDC, but can't find anything on the Z18, and, living out here in Asia, there is no way to get my hands on a manual. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards to all, G2L Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The L18 is closer to 12 degrees I believe. The Z series motors, if they have dual spark plugs, are around 3-5 degrees. Quote Link to comment
VoidDragon
Someday, somehow, we will need to copy mikes brain. For posterity. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
This is actually a best guess based on the Z20/22/24 that we got here. The dual plugs have a shorter burn time and so the timing advance id so much shorter. Quote Link to comment
