Mista510
Good news......finally got the 69 510 started, idling, and drove it the first time. Bad news....I noticed my temp gauge not working so i looked under the hood and noticed what looked like a wire cut that belonged to a sensor that is right below the thermastat housing. Is that the engine temp sensor for this car? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It is if the wire is Yellow/White stripe. If you ground to the block the gauge should read full HOT. This tests the gauge. When connected to the sender it should read engine temp. Quote Link to comment

Mista510
Ok I put the wire connector to the block and it didn't move at all. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
To test that the wire or the gauge is still working, ground the wire to the block... the gauge should read full HOT. If not either the wire is broken between the end and the gauge or the gauge is not working. If you get the gauge to work then the sender may be bad or the connection is corroded and needs cleaning.
