It likely fine an here's why... The old wider seal has likely worn a very small groove on the outside of the spline where it rides. The new thinner one fits in deeper and rides on an unused fresh shiny surface on the spline and seals better. This is an old trick used on timing cover seals and the crank shafts on Chevys.

The correct numbers for the '74 710 are

32136-E0100 or...

32136-U0100

Both should work the difference in numbers might be the factory (thicker) part vs. the dealer replacement number. (which might be the thinner one) These are also the same two numbers used on the 510, 610, S10, A10 620 and the 280z/zx. It's a very common seal.
