210Lemon
Hello Ratsuners, I bought this '81 Datsun 210 last week with the intention of doing a KA24DE engine swap to run in the 24 Hours of Lemons. Aiming to be ready in time for the Buttonwillow race in December. I got it off another member here on the Ratsun forum. She suggested I post here. Create some connections, help figure out what others needed to do to accomplish similar swaps. I'm normally a VW guy and most members on my team are from West Coast Euro Club (mostly based in Santa Barbara). Yep, Euro fans racing a Japanese car. I've done two Lemons races previously when I lived in Michigan... in a VW Scirocco. It fit the bill, though. Lightweight, RWD, parts readily available for swaps and a car the judges probably won't look at twice. Engine is seized and has an automatic trans... I may try diagnosing and fixing the motor to see if I can get some decent resale out of it to help with the $500 budget. But there's no way that drivetrain is staying for the race! So if anyone has a lead on parts, let me know. Also looking for good resources on swap info! Any other suggestions are of course welcome. Definitely a learning experience for me. Master-O-Turbonics
The rear ends in the B310 isn't very strong, but an S110 1982-83 200sx rear end will BOLT IN and offer a 25% larger ring and pinion as well as large axles. The stock H150 rear end is good for about 100hp, and the stock 200sx H190 rear end with big axles has been used in applications upward of ~400hp. I doubt the H150 rear end will last 24 hours under the beating of a KA motor. Best of luck to you! Quote Link to comment
