qiuck Q on shortening 280zx struts

just have a few simple questions on shortening the 280zx struts. I have the KYB rabbit inserts. And ive read that your suppose to measure the new shock with the nut on cus it'll make a big difference, What nut are they talking about?? is it this piece. and if it is or isnt, where does it go?? the top or the bottom?

....and the shock seems to be loose inside the shock and not sit tight like the stock one. is it suppose to be like that?

I had these but then returned them and went with 200sx inserts. I think you don't need that. I think the nut they are talking about is the nut for the 280zx strut tube.

I forgot what it was like but the VW cap won't thread onto the ZX tube right? Will the strut cartridge fit into the ZX cap?

right, the vw cap doesnt go with it and that spacer thing doesnt fit in the strut, so im not guna use it. im not sure what you mean by strut cratdrigde? but i ended up welding a washer to the zx strut cap so the kyb shocks wouldnt rattle around.
