ortuna
Hey Guys, I believe this goes along with a "Rough Idle" lines of engine questions. I did a search and most results where of people describing or just saying Rough Idle. I'm not much of an engine person but could you please look at this video of my 1972 Datsun 510 4dr (stock) just trying to figure out if this is a rough idle or just normal? I did recently(today) changed the fuel filter & Oil filter & oil (and bled the brakes) . It ran almost the same before but would stall out if I put it in drive with the brakes pushed in. After all the simple maintenance it does not stall but you can start feeling the engine & the choppy part alot more than whats seen in the video. any pointers are appreciated. Thanks! datzenmike
Idle seems a bit low. Is this a warmed up motor? Take the air filter top off... is the choke still on? Have the valves been checked/adjusted for proper clearance? If above is yes, as the idle mixture been set and then the idle speed? If above is yes, has the timing been checked? Look at the sight glass on the very front of the carb. The fuel level should be close to the horizontal line. Quote Link to comment
lardlungs
i agree with mike, check that the choke is fully returning when you push it in( mine didnt and it sounded similar). if not it could be something else. i would follow mikes order of what to check on what to check next Quote Link to comment
