surprise last night

So the other night I was driving home and floored the datsun on a straight-away and coming up on a turn I let off the gas to slow down and make the turn

let off the gas and this popped out the exhaust pipe .........

Is this normal ????

Do you have an exhaust on your car?...I'm not the most mechanical person, but it looks like back fire and I never had a problem with it in some of my cars

Yes full exhaust ..the muffler has been changed from the normal to a cherry bomb type muffler because of it backfiring and blewing the muffler to crap and back

 

And yes it is backfiring sounds like a 12 gauge going off

 

So what is the cause of a backfire ...?? too rich too lean timing ?

I work in computers. Popping jpeg images out of the exhaust is not normal. Seek medical attention.

rich, my buddys talon tsi does it when he lets off the gas cause of how rich it runs for the turbo, just means there is a lil unburnt fuel in the exhaust.

changed the newly gaped plugs , threw on a new rotor button, and fuel filter .....runs better

the only time i can get it to backfire is if i hold it on the floor for more than 3 or 4 sec then let completely off the gas

then it will POP any other position of the gas pedal and nothing

 

Still idles a little high but running alot better
