Hard Shifting

Ok so i am having a major issue with my 521... Yesterday on my way to work i came to a stop at a stop sign as i went to put the truck in 2nd because of course i didnt fully stop it made a loud clunk and wouldnt let me back in gear... I pulled over let it sit for a couple seconds went into 1st gear and it went fine. Now while i am driving the truck is making a strange winding type noise in first second and third gear when i go to fourth it goes away. On top of that when i go to shift into 3rd sometimes i really have to push it. WHAT IS GOING ON??? i to be totally honest am mechanically disinclined!

Stop driving it!

Check the transmission oil. There is a fill hole on the driver's side about half way up the side. There is a square plug you can get an adjustable or pipe wrench on. Remove and the oil level is even with the opening. You should be able to touch the oil with finger tip. Your tranny should look similar to these below...

I'm betting that the oil level is very low. It holds about 2 pints. Use only GL4 gear oil 80W90 or thereabout. Do NOT use GL5 no matter what they tell you. Worst comes to worst find a tranny oil that says " yellow metal safe". Fill up to the hole and replace plug.
