hardhead320
Recently installed a new J-series motor with new head gasket torqued to about 50lbs started motor and ran motor and there did not seem to be any leaks, then repulled motor and painted it. 5 months later reinstalled motor and started it, now I have a leak between the block and the head so I re torqued it to 50lbs and that seemed to stop the leak, but I don't know the correct torque specs for the head studs anybody got any idea on what the spec is? datzenmike
J13/J15 is 36-43 pounds. 50 isn't that bad. Did you check the head for warp-age. If not flat it could fail. They must be torqued in this sequence below. Start by torquing in sequence to 20 then in sequence to finished 45. -----8--3--5--11 14--7--2--4--10--15 RAD --12--6--1--9--13 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Always cold. Check the torque at every tune up. Quote Link to comment
