I get to be rude 'n' cranky when I see "gimme-gimme-I'm-too-lazy-to-search" questions. J: early pushrod motor. A: later OHC motor. I know folks have bolted L-motor trans to J motors, but you have to have the engine adapter, and the right mix of clutch, pressure plate, TO brg, etc. Dunno if A-motor trans will. Experts? The only commonality is they are both pushrod engines. 2) No. Totally different rear pattern. Pete, the A-series isn't OHC. It's OHV. The L is the true OHC one, plus the U20 (which is a bastard R-series pushrod block with a OHC head) Quote Link to comment
