What is this sensor

Hey! No pics, sorry, but that is the wired sensor on the right side of a L series 5 speed?

 

There are three, almost side by side, and the one to the rear most has the wires broken off and hanging. It doesnt seem to affect anything, as the truck runs fine. But just wondering. gonna try to get under there and rewire it this weekend.

How many connections on each sensor?. If there are only two wires on the sensors, they might just be switches. Reverse lights, tranny in neutral. Get an ohmmeter, and hook it it to each "sensor", and shift the transmission, and see what happens.

I do not know about every car and truck Datsun used a L-series motor in, but I do know 1971 pickups used a switch for neutral, third gear, and reverse.

My rev lights work, so It might be the Nuetral safety switch eh?

the first sensor is the "reverse lamp switch" the second one may be the "top gear switch" or "O.D. gear switch" (not sure) and the last one is the "neutral switch"
