Dime Dave
I had a 289/302 4 barrel w/T10 CR 4 speed in a Mazda REPU. I used it as a daily driver and occasional autocrosser. Had a cop cite me for speeding one night. Said if I hadn't gotten off the highway when I did he'd have never caught me. I had no speedo but based on engine rpm I was at 140 or so. Wrote the ticket for 85 (the highest his speedometer would read back then) but he knew I was well over that. The 289 Ford is a great engine for a small P/U. Narrower and lighter than a SBC, plus it can make 300hp and solid torque numbers while still running on pump gas. The 1965 Factory 289 HiPo was 271hp and performance parts have gotten so much better since then. Quote Link to comment

astro_ss_340
Well I finally started working on the Datsun, stripped the interior, stripped the engine bay, put 215/60r15's on the front and put 295/50r15's on the back! Then I got the plasma cutter out and chopped my firewall and trans tunnel. Hopefully will pull my 289 out of the ford car its in tommorow.
