xAH510x Posted July 22, 2009 Report Share Posted July 22, 2009 my '72 510 has an old worn brake system with rear drum brakes that do not have any brake assembly, and the front disk brakes are rusted to hell...any one have any ideas for a new brake system that isn't too expensive??? benzo Posted July 23, 2009 Report Share Posted July 23, 2009 depends on what you would say is too expensive. for me and others get new brake shoes and hardware for the rear and get some aluminum drums from a 240Z either new or from wrecking yard. get 280zx front brakes and struts and of course clean up and surface rotors and repack bearings and change out seals get stainless braided brake lines all around. you can also get the zx brake master also if you do use the zx front brakes you will have to do mods to fit the 510 springs or go coil overs if not I know some either get new rotors for stock struts or get a wilwood brake conversion with hardware. some guys on here sell this setup.
