    Keep the faith..!

Well it's been very slow progress here in the UK with my 510, but I got an update yesterday with a few images showing some of the fabrication work being undertaken, pictures (before and after) attached, not in any particular order though, sorry. It looks really good quality work, sadly I've resigned myself to the fact that it won't be ready for Le Mans Classic in July. Oh well always next year....😔 Cheers, JK
  6. Thanks for all the input, and after much debate and discussion I've decided to go stock blue in the end...:D This isn't mine, it's a friends, but I think it will contrast well with the Safari Gold engine bay after all and the colour code I understand is Fathom Blue/Deep River/ Dolphin 18C39 BS4800/5252 JK
  7. Someone suggested a drab olive, which might go well as a contrast with Safari gold, anyone else tried that..? JK
  8. Yeah that was my other concern, too much of the same colour....hmmm, more thinking needed.... JK
  9. Thanks for that, I'm not keen on the blue which it currently is as it matches nothing else and the car will not be stock so I don't need authenticity. Black just doesn't do it for me.... JK
  10. I'm not quite ready to do it yet, but when the times comes I want to paint my engine block. It's currently blue (urggh) and my favorite plan at the moment is to go body coloured - the car will be 920 Safari Gold. So, my question is, has anyone else painted their block body colour? The rocker cover is polished, as are the carbs and the manifold and a few other bits and pieces, the head will be vapour blasted, sump probably black (opinions welcome here too) and the wiring is all going to be hidden away as much as possible, battery is being moved to the boot (trunk 😁) so I'm hoping that the engine will be quite visible on the whole. So if anyone has a better idea or some images of what can be done I'd be grateful. Cheers, JK

Well I wouldn't say he works on the cheap exactly..... 💰 But I came to terms with the cost versus the finished quality before committing to the build. JK

    Keep the faith..!

Thanks Yenpit, and yes I have seen KF's stuff, but the guy who's doing my metal work is confident he can fab anything we might need, so hopefully I won't need any panels..! The car was a South African import so it could have had anything done to it at some point in it's life over there. At least doing it this way there will be no hidden surprises or patching over rust only for it to appear again in a few months. Cheers, JK

    Keep the faith..!

This was never going to be a build thread, I'm no good at stuff like that but in case anyone is interested here, after deciding to 'Keep the faith' and continue with my little car, are the latest pics 😄 A couple of it stripped and ready to go for an acid bath and then a couple post dip I'm quite happy with the result after dipping, I expected holes but floors look great, on to the next stage soon I hope 🙂 I may update this again at some point ❓ JK
  14. That would be great if you could jog his memory for me, we've messaged on Instagram since early May but I don't seem to be getting anywhere...👍 JK
  15. I've been trying to get him to sell me some of those billet gas struts like yours for months, but despite him telling me he'll sort it he never does...maybe it's because I'm in the UK. Anyone fancy helping me out and buying them from him and shipping for me..❓ Cheers, JK
  16. Who's the UK company Martin....I may need them too going forwards..? Cheers, JK
  17. Do you know which type of bracket you ordered to fit that Chase Bays coolant overflow tank to your car? There seems to be five choices and I'm not sure which one is best...? Thanks again, JK PS Your car is just beautiful 😍

    Supersonic Grill

    Looks good Martin 👍👍
  19. It will do when I get to that stage, thank you 🙂 JK
  20. Thanks for the clarification on the type of Escort being discussed. Now I know that 'our' Escort rack is an option I'll look into this a bit more. There is definitely an option to buy a LHD rack here in the UK. https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=900_1332&products_id=10620 JK
  21. I suppose shipping to the UK would be out of the question....😍 JK
  22. Thanks - like the idea of the powder coated hinges too, I'll probaly steal that idea 🙂 JK
  23. They look great, I'm planning on doing similar with my bonnet struts when I get to that point. What are the gas strut measurements please, do you know...? Cheers, JK

    Front strut brace

Hi Martin, I bought a Cusco one from RHD Japan. I wasn't a big fan of the blue ends so had a bodyshop paint them for me. https://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-strut-bar-type-as-front-p510.html JK
  25. I see the YJpn grill finished at 166,000 yen plus postage and duty if shipping to the UK, makes it quite a pricey item...!! JK
