  1. I rolled her out and rinsed her off. 4 years living under a car cover and she was pretty dusty. I put a new battery in and she fired right up.
  2. **Resurrection** The truck was completed in 2012. It was entered into numerous shows and photographed to death. Shortly after, it was parked in the corner of my garage, covered, and forgotten. It hasn't touched blacktop in 4 years. One of the main reasons is the drum brakes were shot and it became dangerous to drive. Long story short, priorities shifted, I bought another house and started a family. Two months ago, I decided to pull back the cover and get her back on the road. I built a really kick ass drivetrain for this truck back in 2010 and never put it in the truck. That little L18 ran well and without the proper suspension and brakes, the truck would have been unstable and an accident waiting to happen - too much power. I contacted Jason Pope on this site and we started discussing the project work left to make this 100% and get me back on the road. I have decided to put 4 wheel independent suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes underneath her. This is the full swap to include the WATTS 4 link rear set-up and QA1 coil-overs. It includes Jason's trick front end pieces and 300ZX calipers plus all the hodge podge of miscellaneous parts. At the end of the day, the truck will handle and ride like a modern car and be safe for the power transplant. The truck is all ready to go and is being transported to Oregon this weekend. When I get her back, I need to figure out the geometry and fab the motor mounts, tranny mounts and driveline. I need professional help with this and am open to references on guys who know what their doing. The plan is to get this in the magazines, and ultimately sell the truck. I will have some pictures up of what she looks like today and Jason has agreed to snap some photos during the build. I will keep this updated as I now have a renewed interest. Also, anybody have a real nice dash insert (brown) they want to sell? I originally painted mine and glued vinyl inside the gauge pods but want to go a different way. Please PM me if you're a seller. Good to be back! These trucks are addicting and it is fun having this project resurrected. Will do a photo shoot later today and get them up. Cheers!
  3. Thanks for the tips y'all. I will hit him up.
  4. Is this guy still building front and rear brackets? I've tried to PM but have not heard back - maybe on vacation? I am looking for a full conversion and have read all the sticky's/search etc. I checked EBAY and nothing there either. Help is appreciated!
  5. I agree. I purchased a mint set from a member here and eventually got them to work but the end result did not match the thousand + hours of restoration. They did not look like they belonged there and the adjustment sucked because you had to cut the bucket down so much (see previous post a few pages back). I am a huge fan of Hella lighting and ended up going with the e-Codes for low's and highs on the truck. I run simple silverstar H1 and H4 bulbs. They are not designed for Xenon bulbs with ballasts. You will scatter the light and burn / cloud the hosing just like you would with ellipsoids. Ellipsoids don't even compare to the new projector technology. Nice thing about the e-Codes is they fit right in the bucket just like any standard 5 3/4.
  6. Yeah...I never got a chance to say thanks for the burgers. THANKS!
  7. It was an awesome show and a ton of really cool old cars, EURO and JDM alike. It was nice to attend a show where the organizers had thier shit together. It is definitley a "Must Attend" in my book. So...on to the bitter sweet...On the way home, I blew a headgasket. She was eating antifreeze and overheating. We managed to limp her home and Doug and I proceeded to tear into it. We had the head off in less than an hour. You can clearly see where the HG failed. I have the head going into my machinist this afternoon to diagnose and fix any issues. She will be back on the road soon enough to make the trip to Richland next week. Funny part: In the raffle I won a year membership to AAA. Glad I didn't need a tow but I would have been covered.....Murphy's Law at it's finest. Doug has a good story on his raffle win......Your turn cupcake.......lol
  8. We will all have to pay $5 cash at the door so have it ready and as we enter, they will point us to where they want us to park.
  9. We are all meeting at Safeway so we can go in as a group. It will be cool as hell to have a train of Datsuns 10+ deep all parked together. Doug, Rick, myself and a few others are coming from Renton we should be right on time but I will offer up my mobile so folks can call if they are running late or vice versa. 206.617.0649
  10. Guys...I have been following the chatter at www.vwvortex.com on the show and decided to register there to ask the organizers some questions and to ensure they will have a spot for us. Below is what I posted. Hey There Everyone, I caught wind of this on Ratsun a few days ago and there will be several Datsuns rolling to this event. So far I believe we have 7 vehicles ready to go. I thought I would register on this site to let the organizers know. We are all pre 1978 and the caravan includes 620's, a Sunny Pick-up and I believe some 510's but not 100% as some of us have multiple rigs. We all look forward to the show and hopefully the weather holds. I just checked and it appears it will. Let's keep our fingers crossed. So, a couple of questions: 1. None of us pre-registered but will pay at the door. Is this a problem? 2. Will we have parking up front in the "old school / show" section? We are all restored vehicles. 3. Can we attend the cruise to Red Hook? We like beer just as much as the next guy 4. Are there raffle tickets still available? 5. Do we need to bring anything to contribute to the raffle? Thanks Gents - We look forward to seeing some cool rigs and meeting some new people!
  11. Doug...address sent via text. Call my mobile if you have any troubles on Sunday.
  12. Doug / Rick...Let's plan on being at the Safeway in Bothell right at 10:30 to meet the rest of the guys. From my house to the Safeway is approximately 25 miles and travel time is approximately 30 minutes. There will be no traffic northbound 405 on a Sunday so we can cruise the whole way at freeway speeds. If you guys leave Kitsap/GH around 9:30 that leaves plenty of time to get to my place and be at the Safeway at 10:30. Let me know if this works or if we need to meet earlier etc. Doug, I will text you my address. Rick, I assume you are rolling up with Doug. P
  13. Well....on the table is 10:30 ish to meet at Safeway. That gives us South folks time roll up and meet people from the North. Does this work for everyone?
  14. 24040 Bothell Everett Highway, Bothell, WA EDIT: Last post mentioned 10 minutes to the meet. This Safeway is literally just East of the shopping center by 3 minutes max. Rick / Doug: If you wanted to drop by my place on the way up (which is on the way) we could roll together. Same goes for anyone else coming from the south.
  15. 10 am - 2 pm is the Show and then a Cruise starts at afterwards. I suggest we meet at 10:30 -11 and roll in a bit after everyone is situated. That safeway is a good spot to meet and since it is so close will take 10 minutes to get to the Show. Thoughts?
  16. I like the glass trailer idea...Will you help me build it Rick....hahahaha...
  17. I was there...I dropped by in the Syclone and hung out. I must have missed you but I am terrible with putting faces to forum names....hahah
  18. I am used to the rain....my truck is not. I spent too much money to have it see rain. I drive in rain and then I spend 3 hours cleaning it and drying out the carpet in the bed. To each his own. This meet sounds like a good time. I went to vwvortex.com and it seems organized and it appears like there will be a good amount of cool cars. Where is everyone located? It would be fun to roll in as a unit.
  19. I am in if it is not pouring rain. Bothell is 25 minutes from my house.
  20. Your weather channel broken or something? Why all these rainy day meets? WHY DOUG?
