  1. so lets start with reason for selling, i recently got the chance to buy my parents only daily driver, a 64 impala 2 door. this is the car i used to get dropped off to grade school in,so i couldn't have let it pass me up. but i can only afford to keep one car :\ , its been a fun couple of months but the 260z gotta go. no rust, only a few dings, need interior work like carpet and attention to dash cracks. has a pioneer radio and speakers. new aluminum radiator, rebuilt carbs, new fuel pump. runs great, did a valve adjustment in early November. tires have great tread and its lowered. car drives great its a 4 speed with a 2.6 ASKING 3,000 or make an offer. like i said id keep it but i cant afford 2 cars, has clean title and owes no fees only con is the fuse box, old one was shot, so i got a replacement at the picknpull. and wired it up everything works but sometimes the fuel pump shuts off and you have to jiggle the wires and it turns back on. i dont know what it is, im not an electrician but its probably a simple fix
  2. yeh when i seen what actually caused the leaking it was a major face palm moment. haha i had the fuel line hooked up to the vent on the float chamber. i was so egar to fix it i didn't see it staring at me haha but now i have to fix the rich problem and the roughness, thanks for the link looks like lots of good info. hopefully i can gete this done saturday.
  3. not sure on what type they are there definatley stock though. ill have to check the return lines, not sure on how to set float level so ill have some reading to do
  4. yeh flooding is what i was thinking. floats and needles are good. and i stoped the leaking. but now it run really rough and now smokes black, which is usually means its rich right? motor didn't smoke before at all.
  5. it does have an electric fuel pump, but ill have to check what type and ima look through my book to recheck all the hookups.
  6. i replaced the cracked intake on my 260z and now the carbs are leaking alot from the front where the suck air. i have no idea what the prob is any suggestions? i didnt flip the carbs, i kept em standing upright the entire time they were off. and the floats look good.
  7. so today i cleaned the carbs, new fuel filter, new coil, and it still wont go :/ its hard to explain but it gets to freeway speeds it feels like it does when i hit the governor in my other car. but it sputters more and when i let it sit for a couple mins it drives great for a few minutes. on sat im droping the tank so i can fix a dent in the quarter, so ill clean it out then and check the lines. funny thing is, i had the same problem in my 74 nova when i first got it, i cant remember what i did to fix it. i think i rebuilt the carb or something
  8. thanks for the input, ima check the fuel system on my next day off
  9. did the 260z have a rev limiter or a governor?.i been driving my z on the streets lately because, when i get it to 60-75 mph it falls on its face, and seems to sputter and just generally not go. then when it recovers, it continues to do this a slower speeds. i though it might be bad points, but it looks like a non points distributor. maybe a stuck governor? i dunno any suggestions? or recommendations on what might be the problem?
  10. good point ill have to look up some local shops
  11. hope this is the right section. but does anyone know of a site to buy paint that will clear in cali? ive bought paint off summit befor and i=like the results, just wondering if theres anything else gonna paint the z soon. and summit wont ship the paint till next month, but i want to do it sooner than that. so if anyone know of a supplier in socal or a site let me know. its appreciated. :D
