    520 from tijuana

I love that truck, and another reason I love the 4 headlight look 520. now if only my wagon will look half as good! (and I'll stop boasting about it too ;) just one observation, and it's not a criticism - the top radiator hose. can you not find a thermostat cover that points the outlet in the correct direction? just that the adjoining 180 degree hose looks like it might become excessively kinked such that it might inhibit flow. maybe fabricate a 180 degree elbow from stainless? anyway with these all iron beasts it's not such a worry, on something like a honda vtec highly stressed alloy engine you probably wouldn't make it to your work without the thing having an internal hemeorage! keep posting the updates!
  2. I might know where there is another wagon, I would swap for a good condition 2 door 510... fancy that. just gotta suss some decent freight rates to and from the US of A ;)
  3. hey there! I like! I've got a 520 wagon, that I wanna do in a similiar colour, or matt black, with the bumperless look. Tell me, with the headlights, what model are they off, and do they have a yellow model for the centre lights? cheers, Tom.
  4. are those the 15 x 7 or the 15 x 8 rallys? you don't know where there would happen to be any more would you? ;)
  5. $85 and rising.. nah I'll think I'll be right with my theif-friendly non locking one for the time being! I am looking for a bonnet badge though as my car was missing it's one. I don't know what sort it had though as there were about 3 different types from my investigation..
  6. cool, I have one of those heater levers left over from my 1000 (B10) good to know it's the same part (mine is black though) , if it is missing.. at least i know it's got a heater. 521gatherer: surely you wouldn't mind selling one of those locks you've got there?? ;)
  7. looks similiar to Australian 180B The red one and yours are very nice! are the yellow headlights the mercedes ones?
  8. re you sure the dog wasn't responsible for the little 'artefact'? ;) I thought this thread was going to be about some model who goes downhill, looses her looks and starts wiping herself out with cheap cask wine , given the title lol
  9. Hey all, I found this - I actually didn't realise they made a doco on these cars! The colours are a little washed out as it was an 80's home vcr taped recording by the looks, but it's worth a watch. Enjoy!

    620 heater trick

I was thinking you could even get some stainless mesh and braze it on so the sticks n twigs can't get behind the cowl covers
  11. lol with all the ticker tape flags there (or whatever you call them) it looks like a secondhand car yard here in Australia! nice car though, thats going to go like a rocket - have you ever thought of putting an RB 20 or 25 turbo in? in the late 80's we also got the RB30 n/a or turbo (singlecam though) here in Australia which apparently, were made specifically for our market. The local arm of general motors (Holden) were left without a 6 cylinder engine for several years as the existing pushrod 6 could not be made to comply to emissions regulations (cause it was basically based off a chevy sideplate 6 and came out in the 1960s and had basically had no mechanic changes since then) and secondly because the v6 they were developing, which was based on the Buick V6 wasn't going to be ready for a few more years. So they reached out to GM for assistance, and they got pointed in the direction of Nissan as GM had done some deal with them for something or other and a deal was struck and they modified their RB engine for the extra capacity to suit the demands of the Australian market where it would need to cope with demands such as towing and carrying loads over long distances) The VL commodore model that it found it's way into won instant praise for the smoothness and instant power of the engine and a turbo model came out a few months after the release which had corvette four-wheel disc brakes and was actually quicker down the quarter mile than the 5.0 litre V8 model!! No prizes for guessing that the nissan engine is now sought after (especially the turbo models) and is praised as one of the best holden engines ever! (that wasn't a Holden!)
  12. Well phew, I'm glad everything is back to normal after the server had that brainfart.. life can continue! well, I finally got some photos of my car , and I have one that I don;t mind showing. Please note the car is at the very start of my build and will definitely NOT look like this when I have it finished and on the road. This is the as-is condition that I bought it in. it will probably be an orangey colour when i get around to painting it and I most likely will get some moon disks for the stock rims as I actually like the look of them!
  13. Hi there I have a 67 520 wagon I am looking for the bonnet emblem that sits right on the front lip of the bonnet. will pay cash but also I have a datsun 1000 (B10) datsun 'D' grille badge that I would be willing to swap. I am in Australia but obviously don't mind paying shipping etc etc
  14. there's nothing inherently *wrong* about the steering wheels.. what flatcat is trying to say , I believe, is that it might mean a possibility there they released ( or indeed the car pictures was imported from) in other LHD markets i.e. the USA ;) I didn't know much about the different ethnic groups in japan, I am learning much more though as the process of restoring this car has sort of made me accidently stumble across. So the Okinawans are basically a different ethnic group in Japan like the Ainu's .. I must really go there one day as a friend has been to Japan several times and he says the people are really peaceful , welcoming and pleasant. If it's like any of the holidays I have been on before, I probably won't want to come back! getting back to the car, I am just more sort of wanting to get everything so it has as much chance as possible of getting passed at it's pit inspection for licensing. I am also a great advocate of having safe cars and I'm not so ignorant as to putting the authorities first and not worrying to much about how safe the car is as when it boils down to it, you are really deally with your life and it's a foolish game to put it at risk just to safe a few bucks (oh and the other people who travel in the car and other road users)
