Mount it so the tabs are pointing up and use plenty of JB weld :D j/k.

I had planned on making a box frame out of angle iron when I do mine. Just an idea. Dwnshifter's looks too low in my opinion, especially with how low he's trying to get. Or maybe a thinner design would be more practical.I think it should be tucked up as high to the underside of the bed as possible to avoid potential road hazards associated with driving lowered vehicles.

No that's just where it is going to be, it was resting on wires in that pic, it will be MUCH higher. I'm thinking about 4 inches above the bottom of the frame to be safe.

you could build a hoop underneath it similar to a racecar. it will keep the center of gravity low and still provide protection.

 

well I personally will be dragging the back (new timeline that is more correct) by the end of the year, and don't want any explosions. I will just raise it a little more ;)
