Good evening,

 

I am trying to upgrade my F10 to electronic ignition.  I bought the Pertronix product but it did not fit.  When I spoke to Pertronix they told me that they do not manufacture a compatible product for my distributor.  Has anyone had success with this upgrade?  Did you replace the whole distributor or use the conversion kit that fits inside the cap?  What brand/model did you use?

The '78 F10 used a form of EI distributor called the remote igniter. The electronics were in a box under the dash but if you find one you can use an HEI module from an old GM product to make it work.

 

Any A series engine made for a '78-'82 210 will be EI distributor and coil with the '79 and up the preferred Matchbox type the '78 will be the remote igniter.
