prollyben
After 2 years of my 720 rotting away in my back yard i'm finally deciding to completely rebuild it. Basically I ran it out of oil on the highway and she locked up and has been sitting since. I took the engine apart today and sure enough it had 2 spun bearings, all 4 wrist pins were extremely tight, pistons were scored down the side and there was a tablespoon of metal flakes in the pan. Cylinder walls were iffy and thinking of going .020 over Anyway I've been doing a lot of research and there doesn't seem to be an abundance of name brand quality parts at least that i recognize. Was wondering if anyone had input on what rebuild kits or individual parts brands to go for or stay away from? I'm building this truck to drive from florida to alaska and back, need it to be reliable and last a long time Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Best place to start is at the machine shop. If it's locked up and has spun bearings, it's gonna need machine work. Machine shops can set you up with quality parts they they know. Word of advice - stay away from aluminum engine bearings. They can chip. 2 Quote Link to comment
