720 Engine control fuse keeps blowing

:confused:  So I keep blowing an engine control fuse on my 1984/85 720 king cab and I am not sure how to go about trying to find the short. Has anyone used one of these:

Power Probe ECT2000 Short Open Circuit Detector.

I have. But if don't know where to go, that tool is going to do little to help you.

 

Is the fuse popping on the power side or ground side.

 

Power side-you have a short to ground. Frayed/open/pinched wire?

 

Ground wide-open circuit...it's getting power from somewhere.

 

 

You'd be better off with a regular power probe, a volt meter, or a plain old test light.

 

I actually own that kit. It was not cheap. I hardly ever use it.

I think it's easier to just find the issues the old-fashioned way. Have to understand how the circuit, and electricity, works to be able to use that kit or actually fix your concern.
