Sideways 620
I've been out of the Datsun scene for several years now but I've noticed no ads for east coast Datsun meets. Been to a couple of z car shows with the zx but rarely ever see any other dattos at these meets. This needs to be rectified,so if any of you Eastern guys know of any shows please post, or maybe we just need to create one ourselves. I live 7 miles from Road Atlanta and occasionally work for Don Panoz, maybe we could do a meet there or at the Nissan HQ in Tennessee. I'm tired of the west coast having all the fun, kick ass shows. Hix1985
Yes it is hard to be a Datsun fan being on the east cost. I live in Ohio and the only thing that pops up is Z-car club and that is still couple hour drive for me. If I wanted a muscle car I could go to car meets every day! so sad. :crying: Then when you talk about cars with them they think your nuts for bring up a Datsun!! I think I'm venting a little bit. qwik510
You missed the 20th Annual East Coast Datsun 510 Meet. It was in May. We hold it every spring at Summit Point Raceway. All Datsuns and Datsun Lovers welcome. 1 Quote Link to comment
Sideways 620
I was at my family reunion in Huntington that weekend. Really hated missing that show as Barry from East coast Z in VA was supposed to have his custom goon there and I sooooooooo want to check it out in person. You East coasters let's get together and do something, my 84 lt1z is the only thing driving right now so let's make it somewhere fun like Skyline Dr in VA or anywhere along the Appalachian trail. I'm almost ready to drive to the left coast for some quality car time if there's nothing good happening here. Quote Link to comment
dgi
qwik510 beat me to telling you! Since you are close to Road Atlanta, why don't you emulate him and create a meet in conjunction with some event there. I bet he would even share a mailing list and tips on setting up the event, even show up himself. There has been a 510 and other Datsuns gathering at RA, a few years ago combined with the Walter Mitty Challenge. Might still be happening, but I haven't heard anything lately. I would certainly participate if it was in the fall and bring a 510 and a 280Z. dgi Quote Link to comment

Driving across the country in our Datsuns. qwik510 beat me to telling you! Since you are close to Road Atlanta, why don't you emulate him and create a meet in conjunction with some event there. I'm still willing to work on it but can't do it alone. Let's explore this new All Datsun Meet. 1 Quote Link to comment
Sideways 620
I will go to the other sites I inhabit and see what I can shake up. I like the fall idea cause it's hot as hell in North GA as well as the rest of the mid atlantic and the South. What do ya'll think about VIR as a venue? Doesn't matter where you come from its a great drive to get there. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
I noticed you're in GA (as am I.) There aren't many Datsun events HERE, but there are quite a few places you'll find us all. A: The Mitty is held at Road Atlanta every year, it isn't Datsun specific, but it's a vintage car get together that is almost always dominated by the Japanese car scene. Quite a few Datsuns every year. You actually just missed it.B: We (Z1 Motorsports) hold an event every year in October (minus last year) called ZNationals. We used to hold it on site at the shop, but it has gotten too large and we're now doing it at Coolray Field. It isn't specifically Datsun either, but Zcar/Nissan specific. We get a very large group of Datsuns in attendance every year. If you still have your Z's that your profile say, you should bring them out. We also are hosting a track day for Znationals the day before the car show at Road Atlanta where we'll be pulling out our race cars and personal track cars with our customers, if that's your cup of-tea, Road Atlanta is a fun track to drive on.C: Caffeine and Octane: If you've never heard of it, it's at Perimeter Mall from 7am-12pm on the first Sunday of every month. It's a HUGE get together that has thousands of people across the US attend. I can't even begin to describe the event. The Georgia Z club attends every month in the summer, we've had tons of old S30's show up, 610's, 620's, 510's, everything. Nissan brought the IDX out and unveiled it for the first public showing here if I recall correctly.D: GA Vintage Class Meet: This started a few years ago. I'm 90% sure this is still going, but I don't remember when. A group of guys called The Burn Unit started this several years back at Brook Run Park south of Atlanta. It got very big for a while, mostly Datsuns. E: Zdayz. i can't even begin to express how much fun it is. You just need to look it up and see.If you are on Facebook, make sure you're a member of the Georgia Datsun Owners page. We keep up with all local events and get togethers there. 1 Quote Link to comment
Sideways 620
Are ya'll near Marietta? I met some of your folks at a z show at sutherlin Nissan several yrs back your centerpiece was a burnt orange metallic z32 that year. Yes I have both z's the 280zx is in rough shape it's next for a rectification, but the lt1300zx is what I'm driving these days. Did we meet at Eddie radatz's shop a couple of years ago? Sideways 620
Do you have any problem with me bringing in the other datsun/Nissan groups for the z natls, sort of make it an East coast Datsun Nissan fest? I live in hoschton,7miles from R.A. and have spent many a track day there before I broke my back year and a half ago so I'm really itching to get back to it, I just can't do too much too quick,so the therapists says. Thanks MetalMonkey for this update I'm feeling better about things already. 1 Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
I actually live in Marietta, there's a good chance you've seen my 620 or 240Z at some point since they were my DD for 5 years. I've never been to Eddies shop so I'm not sure that we would have met. I'm sure no one would mind seeing other Nissan/Datsun variants at Znationals, but I'm not 100%. I can chat with the guys. You should keep an eye out for the ZNationals track day this year, we used to do it at AMP but we outgrew AMP two years ago, and took last year off to try and plan this years much larger event. it should be huge, but Znationals is going to be a BLAST this year. I can't wait to get my 350Z on the track at Road Atlanta. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
Also, if you're ever out on the west side near Carrollton and have never been to Z1, make sure to stop in and say hey. We keep our 1000+HP 300ZX and a few of our race cars in their that are real cool to look at. Quote Link to comment
Sideways 620
I occasionally get out your way and next time I'll be sure to stop by. I'm really looking forward to the natls especially the track day, gotta go get some new Hoosiers tho, current ones are looking kinda sketchy. My lt1zx is a good bit heavier than the earlier z so they go away alot faster, need to put the pig on a diet get her down under 3000 lbs. What did you say the date was for the show? metalmonkey47
What size do you run? We have a few sets of 275/35/18 Continental slicks that have probably a few track days left that w're unloading for $150 a set. We've been using Pirelli P-Zero's on our Time Attack car, apparently the boss can't even break them loose in our cammed 370 race car at RA.The track day is October 14'th, show is the 15'th. Make sure you register at znationals.com! Cheaper than gate costs. Quote Link to comment

Sideways 620
Any suggestions on where to get some lightweight wheels reasonably priced. People keep talking about tire rack, what's your opinion. Quote Link to comment
