datslamd
I am having trouble with my wiring harness. It seems the colours are out to lunch. A few will match up here and there but for the most part it is pretty off. And it seems like my old harness has colours and wires that the new one doesn't and vice-versa. Anybody got any tips/tricks? lynchfourtwenty
well mixing harnesses from different years will mess you up BIG time.. i tried that once it doesnt work.. my blinkers wouldnt work.. switch wouldnt even plug in at all and the ignition wiring had to be messed with.. your best bet is to fix the origional harness using pieces of the new one (that way u keep the colors the same) i rewired my truck with a power tester light, however everything works .. except the heater but i think thats cause of a bad relay in the thing.. icehouse knows what one im talkin about.. so i have it wired to a toggle swich.. off an on i think it works on low but maybe high?? not sure which speed it doesnt seem Fast.. but either way it works.. anyways as for stuff not matchin .. maybe one of the trucks had AC an the other didnt?? or maybe one was auto an one is manual?? maybe different years?? or ones an early in the year model an the other a late in the year model.. the dash i got was from a 76 or 77 .. my trucks a 77 .. nothin matched.. but my buddys 76 with an auto trans i think would match because he has the same blinker switch as i do the harness i bought used a different type of switch cause it only wanted 1 plug but my blinker switch has 2 plugs.. ok sorry i rambled on but i've been in your situation an im tryin to provide anything that might help you.. Good luck Quote Link to comment
datslamd
Oh thanks yeah, However I failed to mention that I have a 521 so there can't be that many deviations to the harness. But you told me what I thought I had to do, put that voltmeter to work. Lates Quote Link to comment

datslamd
Yessir, I have the one in my book and the one at that 620resource I believe it's called. I haven't really given it a good shot yet, just wondering if anyone knew what's up. Lates Quote Link to comment
