datzenmike Posted March 11, 2014 Report Share Posted March 11, 2014 That article has nothing to do with the Z24 motor and seems to be for Ford or GM inline sixes? Certainly motors with single spark plugs. The Z24 is properly timed at 3 degrees, plus or minus 2 degrees. This is the factory setting for dual plug operation and shouldn't be ignored. Dual spark plugs shorten the burn time so the ignition point needs to be much more retarded than with a single plug motor. The Z24 motor is very tolerant of too much advance but it will just waste power. Three degrees. Quote Link to comment
selrahc360 Posted March 11, 2014 Report Share Posted March 11, 2014 Yes if you want more off the line, lighten you flywheel or get a lighter one, over rev'ing a Z24 can cause the end of your con rod to stretch at the wrist pin. Quote Link to comment
