MantisX620
So I took the rear main cap off to change my seals. Take a look at the pic. The bearing on top came out of my current engine. The one on the bottom was in my spare L20. I can look at the crank in my block and the bearing matches the bearing like in my old block cap. Did some asshat mismatch the bearings and throw it back together? Should I use the bearing that looks right from my old block? Put it back and fuck it? It runs fine so far. Thanks MantisX Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The first picture is correct. The second picture is a bearing shell normally installed in the block and has an oil feed hole in it. Nothing wrong with running it in the bottom position many race engines do because of the oil groove in them. NOTE!!! You CANNOT ever run the bearing shell in the top picture, in the block. here is no oil feed hole and the bearing will run dry for ten minutes and seize. 1 Quote Link to comment
MantisX620
Great, thanks for the clarification Mike! Back in she goes. That's good to know for when I get the time and balls to rebuild the other L. MantisX Quote Link to comment
