man i really like your car. looking forward to seeing it back on the floor and running. keep up the momentum!

Thank you for the encouragement !!!

Momentum is definitely the hardest part! My first project car spent 16 years in limbo so I made a personal vow to not let this car live the same tragedy! Especially since I have the wife and two kids pushing the progress so that the whole Fam can enjoy the 510 experience ! ;)

Got some cool stuff done over the last few days - will throw some pics up later this eve :)

-started painting/sealing the gas tank on the outside

-polished up the k&n's for the SU's

-completed the install of the old 4spd and drive line

-bled the clutch/slave cylinder set up

-reinstall is starter required buying new bolts and nuts since the dog-leg was a "bolt to" bell housing as opposed to the "bolt-through" system of the 4spd

-popped all the drain plugs on the interior and started washing/scrubbing the interior out! There was some nasty mouse turds in there :vomit: started with the trunk, smells way better already

-refilled the trans with gear oil, drive around the block a few times. Plan on getting the gas tank back in, going to a 10 mile run and then draining the fluid and replacing it since the trans sat outside for 7 years

-mounted and balanced the new tires. A buddy of mine was gracious enough to take them to work and acid wash them to get all the oxidation off. They look great ;)

Same Here Mike!  Was totally random, wasn't it!!

So you asked for an update, and I cannot believe I have not put some of these photos up already!

First off, let me start by explaining why I have not had much of an update in a while:

My family does it big for thanksgiving and with 7 aunts and uncles we have had multiple TG diners, thus I've been cooking like made, flying all over the place and not had time for my little Dime!

Here's where we sit now :)

New Tires, and back on the ground!

Here's a close up of the SU's in operation:

(I'm prolly going to fill up my PhotoBucket account doing all these videos lol)

Gives you a pretty good idea of the condition of the motor and/or rings.  As discussed earlier, the PO said he rebuilt the motor, but incorrectly clocked the oil rings, thus the smoke.

Had a little down time the other day and started working a bit on the interior - mainly the trunk, but the whole floor pan received a nice wash down with Purple cleaner.  All plugs pulled and sun dried the inside.  Does not reek as bad any more ;)

Did a little wire brushing to the outside of the gas tank.  Its still out btw, the videos above are using a little 1-gal red poly tank like you would have for your lawnmower ;) ...  Safe, I know, right?

Here is some of the cleaned up shots.  Dirty version is on the first page of this thread

And after a few coats of paint (Found an epoxy based spray at Lowes called PlastiDip.  Chemically resistant, so will see how it goes!)

I plan on re-lining the tank next week with this:

http://damonq.com/red-kote.html

My family back in the Mid-West swear by it (lots of salt on the roads and rusted metal!)  I'll make sure and document as best as I can how it works.

Still need to get out to the junk yards and search for some filler tube material.  Again, will write up what I can about that! :)

Thinking also about gutting the interior and picking up a set of EVO 7 or 8 seats for the front, then re-dying the fabric all black.  Thoughts?
