pl521sss
Hello Everyone I need advice or idea on modifying L18 intake manifold and EGR components out of 1974 Datsun 620. I'm aware of the other non smog manifolds can be used but I want to re-use this manifold. Basically removing the smog equipment and leaving PCV valve in place somehow. Has anyone attempted to make cover with a PCV inlet from a machined aluminum? Here's the manifold and carb. See bottom of manifold. Here's the EGR section that bolts back to intake manifold. It has the PCV valve and throttle cable mount that I want to retain. Thinking of cutting this up but it will leave holes to cover. Quote Link to comment
Rays74
I did this exact mod to my '74 a year ago.......I trimmed the egr system off of the manifold (where the green line shows what I kept). I can't remember if I needed to do any welding but if so it was minimal. If I had to do it again, I'd just use an L16 intake and use a 521 thr cable bracket :). I also replaced my orig exhaust with a L16 piece since I didn't wanna fool with plugging or blocking off the metal egr line. --Ray Quote Link to comment
pl521sss
Ray, Thanks for your input. Setup you have now works? There's 3 things about the L18 manifold that I want to retain. PCV , carb spring mount and throttle cable mount. I might consider using 521 throttle cable mount. Yeah, it works great :) Like I showed in the pic, the stock PVC remains as does the thr cable mount and spring mount. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Quote Link to comment
