Wrench21
Okay, so i went to pull an save to get my missing rear driveline and also got the two slip yokes, the front slip yoke fits fine, the rear one is to big! I guess the driveline i got is the larger size...But my main problem right now is that my rear diff is toast, i drain the oil and it had alot of shavings in it. The original rear slip yoke spins all the way around without grabbing anything... I can't find a rebuild kit. If there is one out there, please let me know. My other option and more appealing to me, is to swap axels from another year in pull and save. What years are interchangible (gear and ratio is compatible) with my 1981.5 4x4 720? This is one of the last things i need done before i can finally drive this thing. Quote Link to comment
Sealik
The 83+ has the larger drive shaft, companion flanges...etc. Assuming you have the 4.375 gears (check ID tag)......soooo...you'll need the gears/diff from a pre 83 The 83+ 4x4 gears are 4.11 Quote Link to comment
Wrench21
Well that sucks. I need to rebuild it then, i can't find any axles from that year range and gear ratio. I've never dove into diff's before, what parts/seals/etc do i need? And where can i buy them? Also, can i change the flange on my larger driveshaft to fit the older style one? Quote Link to comment
