MicroMachinery Posted July 17, 2012 Report Share Posted July 17, 2012 Not exactly sure how deleting the cat is going to damage your smog pump.. Your smog pump sends oxygen into the exhaust manifold ports near the head in order to help burn off excess HC's and clean up the emissions more. The smog pump is belt driven at the front of the engine. A test pipe which replaces your catalytic converter in no way affects the operation of the smog pump. .. to be honest, I'm surprised that the smog pump is even still on your ZX if you're considering deleting the Cat.. well.. I see now that you're in California, so removing either the Cat or the Smog Pump will result in a fail at the Smog station. Quote Link to comment
