Radiator for KA swap

I'm getting the KA rebuilt now and machined, need to pick up a radiator. Any suggestions on the best radiator for the job without breaking the bank? I know I could pull something used but would rather just get a new unit. Suggestions?

I do believe it is the one for A/C. The part # is Spectra - CU1557.

It's the biggest one I could find that didn't require any mods to the car itself. (And it cools awesome.)

 

This is the one i just bought and installed and it fit perfect.

Seems like this works just fine. What did you use for the filler neck? Did you just use the Summit inline hose filler?

I used a moroso one from summit and a moroso 16lbs cap. Those 2 things were $50 shipped though... I still think its a pretty good deal.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Did you steal the rubber mounts from a pick n pull yard for the radiator? Or did you have some already?

I made my own out of some inch thick solid rubber mat I had laying around. Crude maybe but you can't even see them and the price was right.

 

The thing I didn't like about the radiator is the top has exposed fins so I ended up making a top cover that slipped right over the core to protect it/ hold it in place. Not a very good picture but I think you can get the idea.

 

There is also a hole on the drivers side that you will need to get a plug for. I used the stock VR6 fan switch sensor that is suppose to be there and someday I plan to utilize it.

Yep, I made up covers also, for that same VW rad that we use on our swaps. (This is one of the swaps we just finished)
