allen dodson
It runs good and strong but when it is idling is sputering and missing. The fuel filter had a lot of grit in it and i installed a new one and it seems a little better. Any more advice would be great. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
dat521gatherer
rev engine and stick your hand over the carb to suck any debris through the carb. spray starting fluid around the carb base and vacuum and manifold to check for leaks. people say idle increases when this is done at a leak but my expirence is it floods and will try to die. either case you will know if there is a vacuum leak. points may be pitted. spark plug may be fouled. dirty distributer cap. timming light on each cylinder will tell you if a specific cylinder is missing. good luck Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Is the idle mixture adjusted properly? Is the idle speed correct? Is float level too high? Is needle valve dirty/sticky causing it to flood at idle? Check that carb mounting bolts are tight. Is spacer below carb cracked? Check all vacuum lines are secure and not cracked or split. Check that throttle shaft isn't worn. Is it loose? Quote Link to comment
