All are good but the '78 and '79 are my choice as they come with front disc brakes, and ball joint steering to replace the king pins on the earlier models. The alternator is solid state internally regulated to replace the mechanical one on the fender. The distributor was updated to an electronic ignition that eliminated the points. Link to comment

I guess I'm just being nostalgic. I've owned two 72's in the past. Given the info you've shared I'm open to a 78 or 79 model. As a matter of fact, I now would prefer the later model.
