hitch
After a try at re-sealing the original tank, without success I decided to try a new one. I could have sent it to a rebuilder in PA and he quoted over $300 with possibly more after seeing it. So I Found the 81-83 810 tank online and it was nearly the same shape, and size, just 3 gallon larger. The sending unit hole was much larger and different type of retainer. I searched for a new or used sending unit to use. Was $90 locally from the junkyard that specializes in Datsun's, without a guarantee of it being good. After a bunch of phone calls, found one available new, from Nissan, $297 and I'd still need to mod it to work with the 210 wagon. This is the result of $67 shipped, Fuel tank on clearance, Rock Auto $30 universal sending unit from NAPA with gauge / Going to see how it works with the factory gage.\ $40 Miscellaneous fittings and hoses $30 Strapping material nuts and bolts from ACE New tank I fabricated a new cover from a computer case Drew a circle on the computer case and began nipping Pencil etching for the screw hole locations Marked my screw holes Cut 1" hole for the new generic sending unit and mounted the fuel pickup. I used brake line as the pick up and left it about 1" from the bottom. The following is the competed sending unit and fuel pick up. Did this on the cheap the Ratsun way, Woody is running great. I'm planning to find and run some better strapping material for the tank, right now, I'm using the thin stuff with holes in it from ACE. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
So it did work? Cool man! Go to home depot for the strapping. You can buy the tough industrial shit for cheap. Quote Link to comment
