I assume the fuel level is not near the horizontal line on the sight glass? If it idles in the general area of the line but runs out when driving, replace the fuel filter. In fact replace the filter anyway... you can never change it too much, it's cheap and easy to do and often solves many running problems.

Place rags under the front of the carb to catch the gas. Remove the three cover screws and take the surround and glass cover off. Carefully remove the rubber seal and clean it and it's mounting surface in the carb body. Use caution here. There is a tiny brass sleeve on the end of the float hinge pin to space it away from the glass. It's very easy to dislodge and loose it.

Carefully lift the float with a pencil. Note that there is a small lever attached to the float just forward of the hinge pin that pushes up and closes the fuel inlet needle valve. When fully closed the top surface of the float should be horizontal. If adjustment needed carefully remove and save the brass sleeve and slide the float off the hinge pin and bend. Install and make sure that the float also drops down of it's own weight and almost touches the bottom. There is a second adjustment tab for this. Needle nose pliers are good for adjustments. Reassemble is the reverse. Check for leaks and proper level of fuel.

If the carb was off the engine check float level by turning upside down. In this position the float top, (now the bottom) should be horizontal.
