ohpyramids
I am looking at some new shoes for my 510! When I go to pick them up- what should I be looking for? It seems pretty straightforward, but Ive never been burnt on used rims before. THANKS! Quote Link to comment
greybeard
look for dents around the beads on both the inside and outside lips(from plowing over a curb, or hitting a pothole, big rims with low profile tires can get bent this way very easily), check the lug holes to be sure they're not damaged.(oval) check the outer lip for curb rash, on steel wheels look for rust. best to buy with the tires off. also check for cracks. Before you have tires mounted ask the tire shop to spin them on the ballancer to check for runout. Quote Link to comment
Braden
also check for marks where they have been chucked up in a tire changer, i personally would want a set of wheels that has had more that 3 or 4 sets of tires on them, check for wheel weight stains, signs of repainting (if they are Painted) and beware of the extremely good bargain, dont jump on them because they are cheap, be sure its legit, dont buy stolen wheels either, question where they came from, dont be afraid to ask if they are stolen, just watch the owners reaction to tell if he is lying or not.
