Jonzy
Does anyone know how to put a 3 wire Chevy alternator in to a 1972 Datsun 620? Quote Link to comment
yello620
Are you talking about the older GM 10si style alternator that was used from the early seventites to the mid eighties? Yes it can be done, i have one on mine. Just dont fall for the generic GM one wire alternator. They are crap. I will have to look tomorrow at how it is wired, unless you can find a picture of it in my truck thread. I think that it is titled "my yello 620". Quote Link to comment

imtb
Its a super easy upgrade I just did mine. If you have the plug that goes in the top of the chevy alternator the ones the field the other is the sensor wire that comes on when you turn the key. If you need a pic I can take one of mine. I have 510. Quote Link to comment
72 327
Although this is a Chevy engine in my truck. There is this little adapter for it, I think $3 it has a resister that jumps the field windings and allows you to make it a 2 wire install (one to batt and one to key or switch to power the alt). imtb
Here is pic of mine. You can see the red wire just goes back to the alternator for the feild and the other wire goes to the idiot light. Quote Link to comment
yello620
Well with that last pic, you certainly dont need a picture of mine. Looks the same anyways. And i had forgotten all about getting this info for you. sorry Quote Link to comment

imtb
Mine is 63amp a/c delco like for 78 chevy impala. I can get hold off a chrome one for $100.00 or regular finish for $65.00 with the plug. Quote Link to comment
