Danfinny
ok so the ka ecu will not trip the relay to turn on the fuel pump dont know why. you think it would be alright to hook it up with a relay that is tripped by the ignition? Quote Link to comment
nismo dr
I don't think its a good idea, I've seen people wire the fuel pump to the ignition, then you forget about, your sitting listening to tunes with the engine off and its just pumping away. Need to have it only running w/cranking or running Quote Link to comment
hughdogz
I agree. Worst case, you get into an accident creating a fuel leak and the pump doesn't shut off. Have you tried switching the signal wiring for the relay? It could be the ECU pulls ground instead of providing power...just a thought. Quote Link to comment
abusedhachi
we wired my fuel pump to the ON. So it doesnt come on with the ACC. If you want to use a relay you could wire in your own, just get one from the Junkyard or if you have an extra fuse box laying around. Edited September 7, 2009 by abusedhachi Quote Link to comment
nis720
Did you try a diffrent ECU? I had this happen to me (trial and error) when I was wiring the Fuel pump relay. Quote Link to comment
abusedhachi
I'm not trying to be an ass, but Start / IGN is a momentary switch. How does the fuel pump relay stay on?: my bad, i meant the ON position. That way you can still run the accessories without running the fuel pump. "edited original post" Quote Link to comment

hughdogz
Hi Dan, I'd test if the ECU is sending a signal to the relay: 1) Check for a 12V signal from the ECU wire by going to ground somewhere on the body using a test light or multi-meter 2) If no 12V signal, check for a ground signal by checking for continuity to ground. Both of these tests have to be done while the engine is cranking... I like to use those two types of test light tools that look like a screwdrivers. Hope this helps... Quote Link to comment
