joemaddox
My datsuns got so much rott, its lame... I just put new patch pannels i laid in as they are now welded and the grindings done.Have removed the rear pannel and am starting on the trunk lid(just finished the hood). I stripped the majority off today for an eval of the rest of the body(as the floors are new and interior is done) and damn, i have alot of work to do.. So i think this is going to be my "progress" thread... Please imput and tell me what you think (shave it, dont shave it, how low, how tall ect)... I am interested in thoughts on it... :) So this is what it looked like when i got it: I redid the floorboards and started on the interior(i have pannels and stuff for it, i just havent put them on yet) Yes i know, thier dirty as hell,lol..... The old panel was rotted out, so i am replacing it now... After i cut the hood of an rx7 up,lol, i had patch panels After further grinding was done, they looked ok( i know i have some hammer/dollt work to do,lol) The hood is looking better, i took it down, and hammered out all the dents(slappers are wonderfull tools!) Its first stage DTM primer, i'll get the filler primer, sanded and sealed shot up soon, it is done now though :):) And here's the engine i am sroping in, its a very nice 13B rotary :) Oh, and i have started on restoring all the trim :) Quote Link to comment

blasta510
hey good luck with the rotary, im pondering the idea of a 13b or 13b-t. I was planning on Getting it out of a 85 or newer rx7. How do they mount? let me know what modifications you do to get it in their. Your car kinda looks like mine too ;) accept mine is more faded. for now. Quote Link to comment

joemaddox
Well, all the final filler work was done today, i have to sand the rest of the car now and get it ready for primer... I have only spent about 100bucks so far, its funny:lol: Well i know its nothing near your guys's 510's but i got it from a place where it would not have been restored or even brought back to life and i am doing it on a "at home dad" budget,lol... So its not the most professional job, but its going to look good at least :) Quote Link to comment
joemaddox
And its not my first resto on a small budget, i have done a few, so it will get to where the others did soon.. Here are some of the budget jobs i have done previously: 66 impala ss, took 250.00 to bring back.. And i didnt like it so i redid it again, i loved how the bumper turned out!! 64 bel air..car was nothing but spray paint and bondo..lol...400.00 job There were holes under those mats,lol... 68 merc cougar....This car makes my datsun look good, there was so many problems with this car i dont know where to start...I'll just point out the bathroom tub trim for the hardtop trim and leave it at that......450.00 job There were beer cans covering holes in the roof,lol... So much went into this car....hundreds of pictures were taken..Was quite and accomplishment i think. long story short: 1967 plymouth gtx(i never got to finish this car...:(, please dont make me explain why not...::tear:: 64 grand prix, was my first resto, 600.00 job, didnt have a camera of my own back then so theres limited pictures(biggets regret!) So there are a few pics of past jobs... I have done all my friends cars as well, but i dont gloat about budget paint jobs unless it was a classic or a feat,lol... Quote Link to comment
