  1. Update, now before the engine gets warm, the idle hovers around about 300 rpm. it has a strong hesitation until it wheezes up to around 900 rpm, then all is good in the world. once warm it idles great and runs great. what have i f'd up now lol any help greatly appreciated
  2. Welp, I fiddled with the connections on the IAC and AAR and the idle dropped. so that was it. thanks for pointing me where to poke at.
  3. ya, the CTS values were checked both at the sensor and at the ecu pins
  4. My distributor is clean and dry. My IACV is miserable to get to, its right up against the firewall. Its not touching the firewall, i put a fiirewall plug off a dodge truck in to allow room for the valve to be "recessesed" into the firewall, but it makes it a big ball of suck to get to. The only article I found on the IACV was regarding a KA24DE, and Id hate to tear mine out only to find that the info didnt pertain to mine. Anyone have any tips
  5. I will check for that later after work, but it runs just fine. It just idles at 2200rpm and runs rich.
  6. I forgot to add that I reset the ecu going to code IV while in code III and I unplugged the battery over night
  7. I have a 89 240 sx KA24E swapped into my 720. Its been in there for a couple years now, and has essentially been problem free. 2 weeks ago, I was pressure washing my engine bay for a show, not holding the wand close, but holding it back a ways and not focusing on areas of vacuum lines or electronics. I then drove the truck for a couple hours running errands and it ran like a champ, as it always did, That evening, I stopped at a gas station to top it off and it was idling at 2200rpms. Its consistently idled this high and has run rich ever since. Every now and then it drops back to normal idle, but there isn't any rhyme or reason to that behavior, Its throwing codes 13, 14, and 41. it has thrown 14 and 41 since the swap, and likely will continue to do so being those sensors are in a garbage can. I've replaced the coolant temp sensor, and tested it not only at the sensor, but at pins 18 and 21 on the ecu, and it reads correctly. I had my brother jiggle the harness to see if the resistance changed due to a bad wire, but it held true. Any ideas on what to poke at next? Im heading up to Tumwater Sunday for a show and I'l really like to have it back in tip top shape. Thanks for any help
  8. craigslist. Some guy out in Stayton I think.
  9. My Ka24E swap into my 720 was pretty straight forward. It bolted up to the trans. I needed custom motor mounts, but they appear straightforward to build (I bought mine). I had to screw around with a few radiator hoses to get that worked out. And I bought Icehouse's relay box, which makes it go in easy. The real time is in how much time you want to spend running wires and mounting things. Theres a version involving a bunch of zip ties and shoving things where they fit. And theres a version like i did where i rerouted the engine bay harness behind the fender and under the core support. I lengthened the harness that runs down the intake manifold and ran the engine harness through a grommet i got at upull it into behind the dash and mounted an auxillary fuse panel for all the additional wiring. The computer and can/am box are under the pass seat and there are very few visable wires to be seen. One way takes an evening. One way takes many. Your engine looks great and if you need any help just holler. I'll have it down at the cruise in at Sonic in Keizer saturday late morning if you want to check it out.
  10. You heading up this way anytime soon? I work in Lake Oswego just off I5 if thats easier for you to meet up at
  11. Here is the remainder of parts left after I rebuilt my spare ka24e. this engine was running but had low oil pressure. I only have what is in the pictures. I would like $40 for the whole pile of everything, but I will gladly seperate out whatever anyone wants, just drop me a line. I have already sold the rods/pistons, and the timing I'm in Oregon City,OR but I will ship whatever, wherever for the cost of shipping. David 971-219-8926
  12. Im looking for a set of brown power window door panels for an 85-86 door. I have a decent set of black to trade. David 971-219-8926
  13. Im cleaning out my stuff left from swapping a KA24E into my 84 720. The distributor was what was in the z24. It worked fine, its just been shelf bound for a year. The KA parts I would love to unload as a lot. I dont know for sure if those parts work or not, but I was told they did. They are out of a 90 240sx except for one of the intake tubes which I believe to be a KA24DE tube. $50 for the distributor $30 for the pile of KA parts A few more pics to be seen at http://s575.photobucket.com/albums/ss198/dbjbor/ DAvid 9712198926 Im in Oregon City, OR off Beavercreek rd approx a mile from hwy 213 near the new high school Im happy to ship stuff if you're not near me for the cost of shipping and packaging it I have several things for sale on portland craigslist, search my number to see it all and make your trip out worthwhile
