Over the the years i have done a few cars for myself, but mostly for others. So about a year ago I got the itch to do a car, but what? I recantly bought a new house and was in need of a truck for a little yard work on the weekends, and needed to be my daily driver. One day a customer came into the shop for an estimate driving a Datsun 620 std cab, olive green, and looking pretty good. I have had a few Datsun's back in the day two 510 2 doors and a wagon in the late 80's early 90's. The wagon got a NAPZ & 5speed from a200sx in 92. This road has been travaled a couple times. 4 SR's in 240's and a front clip RHD conversion. So that was it, the truck I needed was a 620 King cab (so I would fit being 6'2Fist stop, Craigslist & BAM a 1978 620 not looking to bad, but ran like crap, so bought it. A new carb, some tires and wheels on the cheap, and now I have a daily driver. After about six months I decide to do a little matanace and repair, ball joint, tie rods................ next thing i know I'm rebuilding the front end. A little more time goes bye and I'm thinking the L20b needs a little more pep in her step, so to the interweb I go. (Dear Craigslist: thank you for all crap for sale) KA24DE being pulled for a SR20DET swap, thats the one, Noth to B-ham I go in the 620 to get me a KA.

So here were: the run down

1978 Datsun 620 King cab baby s--- brown L20b 4speed

No carpet, bad seats, crack dash, wind noise, water leak

IT'S PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!

One L20B

Out with Old, time to prep for the new

KA block W/tans for motor mount fab

Draglink flip with pan for fit, with a $50 drill bit later

Holes made for wiring and rad mounting, cleaned and ready for some paint

A little masking and sealer, ready for paint

A little Mazda A4A red with clear, almost a guards red

 4. Well two, one to pull the l20b fab mounts and rad then paint, one to built engine and install
 5. Datsun 510 $200 bucks in 1987. A friend in HS dad would buy them at auction for $100-$200 and we would beat the crap out of them. Now I feel bad and wish I had a couple. I have rolled one, and cut the roof off one. Good times
 6. And thank you, It was a long weekend to get it built and installed
 7. Not sure of the brand, found it on eBay S13 racing rad for $110, a new stock style was 99 so I went with the racing rad. A few mods needed to be done but it does fit with removal of the bumper mounts on the frame.
 8. Sorry I'm a little new at posting. What would you like to know? It's a complete 93 ka from a 240sx on Craigslist with trans and upper harness.I went through the complete engine and harness. I had to make some repairs to the harness due to no spark after install. Was a bit of a time suck, but not to bad.
 9. 78 620 with a full ka24de rebuild and swap with 5speed So much fun to drive
 10. Possible BRE paint job
