  1. im thinking if this SR is bad that im going to just go to the VQ35 and turbo it. ive already done that in my maxima and the engines are cheap and all over the place.
  2. thats pretty much what the plan is, maybe miata coilovers in the rear to keep the bed stock but i doubt that will happen.
  3. i have a 79 with a kade swap and im in the middle of figuring this out as well. from reading all the info on the BAR site you have to swap over everything involved with the engine smog equipment. which means i will have to use the cluster that has the check engine light or else there will be no way to tell if there is something wrong with it. i have everything hooked up smog wise but thats just what i was reading and i could be wrong. im kind of screwed if this doesn't work out but thats just life the moment.
  4. i unded up getting an SR for 1100. plans for the truck with be s13/14 front and rear suspension and then who knows what else. RHD will be happening when i cut out the 620 firewall.
  5. ill be driving it once a week for sure.
  6. no, randomly found it in the internet. the guy does not belong on ratsun sadly. its looking like im going back to the RB. I cant find any SR's around here for cheaper then 3500 that's with my hookup at the importer. I just cut out my firewall for the rhd swap so im going to start measuring everything and see how far back this tranny will sit inside the cab. right now im working on a R32 GTS so I can just use his rb20 motor to see how everything fits.
  7. I would do a VQ swap but dealing with the NATS is no fun and if you run a 95 ecu and harness you have to change out all the timing stuff. its just a lot of extra work when you go with the newer motors, so many electronics involved. I will say this I was putting down 300whp though. I was just reading up on a guy that did an RB swap in a 521 and it was super clean but crammed. im glad I started this topic though. I had my heart set on a RB but im now leaning towards the sr. I can pick one up for 1000 and use that other money to complete my 240sx suspension swap on the Datsun. I will say this, nothing beats the sound of an inline 6 turbo motor.
  8. this is not my first swap nor will it be my last, this will probably be number 8 for me. I understand cutting into the truck will ruin the originality of the engine bay which is something I don't mind doing but I still want it to look clean. power wise this thing will have lots of power but this truck is going to be built for more shows and the occasional Saturday cruise then anything. maybe im just being super over ambitious about this. ive already done a ka swap in my 79 620 and had a SR in my S14 ive also swapped a 06 VQ35 into my 95 maxima so I know what each engine has to offer for me. I guess im just looking for something different.
  9. so im ready to start working on my 74 620 and im going over the engine possibilities for this thing, first i wanted to do a 5.0 ford engine but after looking at the width of the headers ill have problems with my RHD swap because of the steering. i mean either way its going to be close. the rb25 engine is 33 inches in length which means its 3 inches too long. im not opposed to cutting into the firewall but im seeking for advice of what that engine will do to the truck in the engine bay weight wise, length wise, and all that. i can get a full RB25 swap for 1500 so im just thinking why not but then again if that is just too crazy ill just do a SR but i feel thats not original enough. maybe im just over thinking everything. share your thoughts with me please, all the help i can get would be very wonderful
  10. well i finally had time to work on the truck last week and ill update with pictures tomorrow. engine is in and running, had a huge vacuum leak so that was throwing me off for a while but all is good now. my future father in law came up this weekend and helped me strip down the inside so all new carpet is in now. ill be painting the rest of the truck this next weekend weather permitting of course.
  11. progress looks real good man, makes me cringe at all the work im in store for but its always about the end result. keep it up!!
  12. thanks man, its just a spare s14 dash im working on for a friend. it had tons of cracks in it so I fixed those and wrapped it all in carbon fiber. let me know if you ever need anything, I have plenty of cloth laying around.
  13. im dumb and was putting the clip in wrong, anyway i was determined to get this engine in tonight and thats just what i did. THE ENGINE IS IN!!! im so excited right now by what i accomplished today, i also picked up a new set of wheels for the truck 15x8.5 i think they will clean up nicely. not sure if ill keep them that color or do a matte black on them, one has some bad rash so it might just be easier to do the matte
  14. yes it does, tried this earlier with another engine bay i painted, it worked so well that i just had to do it again with this one. super cheap and does the job. i was trying to get the motor in today but im having such a hard time getting the throw out bearing onto the clutch fork. ive given up for today, nothing sucks more when you need help and nobody is around.
