monkbonk
My dad's stoopid Chevy truck (with utility bed) is having an issue with the brake lights not working. When I press the brake pedal, the a/c heater control cluster lights up. Sometimes it'll stay lit after I let off the brake pedal also. I have to remove the 25 amp fuse for the a/c and heater to get it to stop. They were working prior to me removing the engine/transmission. I had them working intermittently one time afterwards. Ever since the A/C cluster started coming on when actuating the pedal though, the brake lights have been dead. Blinkers and parking lights all work. I removed the a/c cluster entirely at one point, and they still didn't work. Quote Link to comment
monkbonk
I finally figured it out. When I was pulling the motor out, I cut a couple wires that were still attached to the back of the block (grounds). I thought I reconnected them, or at least enough of 'em. One of the wires I cut came out of a small offshoot of the main harness towards the back of the motor. I reconnected it today with some splicing and my brake lights no longer ground out into the a/c cluster. Good stuff Quote Link to comment
Alec 720
My Dad's 1997 Dodge 1500 kind of had a similar problem when the air is blowing normally in your face. And you step on the gas a fair bit the air switches from face to floor you let of the gas and it switches back. Glad you got it fixed though. Quote Link to comment
monkbonk
For sure. This truck has 430,000 miles on the engine. Approaching tired. Quote Link to comment
