gus280z
So, when i bought the car 5+ years ago i noticed that there was an alarming amount of red sealant around the where the rear exhaust stud is on the head. So i figured there was funny business happening here. Well today i went to advanced and picked up a gasket and figured i could fix this problem. Pulled the manifold and found the 2 studs broken in the head, the one right bellow the thermostat 1st and the one closest to the firewall (the one all red sealed ) After breaking 1 extractor I had to grind the broken piece of extractor off with a carbide bit. the rear stud came out fine but the front one was hell photo uploader After all that mess i was able to get the broken studs out and retap the holes :D more tomorrow Quote Link to comment
yellow zee
I just went through the same thing last month. Not fun extracting those broken studs. Nissan sell beefed up replacements to correct the issue with the first and sixth studs breakage. Quote Link to comment
yellow zee
Oh yeah, make sure you have the exhaust mani levelled as its most likely warped. Mine was bad. Quote Link to comment
gus280z
This it what it looked like after finally getting that old gasket material off and with new studs in place. Yellow Zee I did not check the exhaust manifold (its the stock one ) but i guess they can all warp. Fortunately there are no more leaks :D Quote Link to comment
