PinoyDat210
is their any pistons with flat tops that will fit the a14 without modification?? i hear of options for the a15 but none on the 1.4l. I wanna do a flat top piston swap on my reground cam, probably will have to notch reliefs to allow lift. but i want the gains of the flat top combustion. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, custom order pistons are about $100 each from the usual piston companies. Quote Link to comment
PinoyDat210
will their be noticeable power benefits from the flat top or would dished be better for near stock internals? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Dished pistons have lower emissions. Flat tops have more power and better fuel economy. If you have a closed chamber head, I'd expect a 5 HP gain. With an open chamber head more like 2-3 HP mostly from compression increase. USA A14s came with closed chamber heads (5-speed cars) or open chamber head (4-speed and auto cars). 1981-1982 were all closed chamber. Quote Link to comment
