GA15 mating to 60-series 4-speed

Okay, so I found a GA15 on the cheaps with low miles. Currently, I have a dead-in-the-water A14 in my 210, with everything attached being mechanically sound.

What I have:

  • GA15 with no flywheel
  • A14 (dead) with new flywheel
  • A14 intake and Weber carb
  • 60-series 4-speed, new clutch

I have several motor-head supervisors willing to help me, as I'm a complete newb.

I've read this topic here: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/15259-ga16de-rwd-trans/, and have some questions.

  • Is there a difference in input shaft length between a 63-series 5-speed and my 4-speed? (Will I have to drill the crank?)
  • Can I substitute the A14's flywheel for the GA's, or should I place an order for one?
  • Am I naive enough that I should abandon this on my time frame of 2 months?

Thanks for the help, Ratsun!
(There's not much to even take a picture of; this is just theory I guess)

Yeah, that's the one I mentioned in my post.

I guess I answered my own question about the flywheel. I think I'll probably be able to use the A-series one. All that's left is mounting and switching to a carburetor, along with some firewall work (angle grinder?).

Still unsure if the the input shaft/crank needs to be modified.

oh sorry, i wasnt paying a lot of attention i guess.  what i was alluding to was that its probably going to be a lot more work turning a fwd in to a rwd then you are anticipating.  also whats the real gain? it only has a bit more displacement then your stock motor.  a ka motor would probably much easier and cheaper in the long run, plus its already rwd and its 2.4 liters

It's cool.

I was under the impression the only real change to be made from FWD to RWD on this was flipping the flywheel around. If I didn't know anything about it at all, i would have sworn it WAS a RWD engine. Am I wrong about this?

I'm using this engine because I'm in the midwest where Nissans are virtually non-existant. I've been trying for months on Ratsun trying to buy a KA of people, but everyone's falling through on it.

No, I don't want to stick the dizzy through the firewall, but I could go the crank trigger route.
