Interrobang
Finally got the L28 to where I wanted it., so rust mitigation was the aim this week. Found a few do-able repair areas in the Z before stumbling upon this while cleaning up the area under the battery tray: Right where the frame rail meets the firewall there is a nasty patch. Seems like just about the worst place to have rot. Was afraid grinding it too much might make it lose its tenous hold on life, so I just sprayed rust-fix on it to slow it down. (don't worry, everywhere else got ground, rust fixed, primed and painted) In short - how fucked am I? Has anyone here welded in new metal in this location? Should I start looking for a frame to swap my drivetrain into? Quote Link to comment
Interrobang
Looks like motorsport auto sells a replacement rail. Bit rich for my tastes though: www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/SBC1B10/30-7314 Quote Link to comment

Interrobang
Those are for the frame rail that runs under the floor pans, no? I need to patch the rail inside the engine bay, at the firewall. My pic didn't make it obvious, sorry. New plan is to cut the worst rot out and make a patch that will fit on top of the rail, then mig it in. 1 Quote Link to comment
