ggzilla
DVG: generic term for Weber 32/36 progressive carburetor DGEV: DGV with electric choke DGAV: DGV with automatic (water heated) choke DFV: reverse (left-hand) DGV More details: http://wiki.datsun1200.com/index.php/DGV Quote Link to comment
datsunfish
I think the standard DGV is the manual choke version. Quote Link to comment
MrRobatoGato
Is one better then the other? Quote Link to comment
datsunfish
I would stray from the water heated one because that is just one more spot to have problems in the critical cooling system.Manual is cool but not as many around and they are probably used as hell.So yeah,I would suggest the electric choke myself. The backwards dfav and holly are a bit of a hassle and only really good on a ported mani where it doesnt matter which way it sits. MrRobatoGato
Is there performance additives to each style? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
All choke types have the same performance. The choke only has an effect on a cold engine. The holleys have different size venturis, from lots of CFM to too much CFM. I think all the italian Webers are the same size venturis. read all about it at the link above. Quote Link to comment
dat521gatherer
i notice most of the dgav water chokes are converted to electric. i have one manual and one electric. most people prefer the electric but there is nothing wrong with the manual ones. hardest part is finding a 521 stock choke cable with knob. my numbers are oddball for some reason instead of 32/36 i have a 32/35 and a 3?/3? i'll have to look at that one again. both run great though. ggzilla
I recommend a Weber 32/36. The go quite well on a Datsun 510. Quote Link to comment
MrRobatoGato
Alright i'll get more info on my carb this week. pulling the engine out of 620. Quote Link to comment
Shonuff
the DF and DV are essentially the same carb, you can use the same jets and pumps in both. really the only difference between the two performance wise is off road. with the df being a mirror image of the dv the fuel bowl is in the back so if your out wheeling and your having a "starving" problem on inclines you should use a df. tho ive had both on my wheeler and never really noticed any starvation. imho- both the DF and DV perform the same on the street, but some cars like the linkage on the front or back of the engine for a cleaner install and easier linkage. go with what fits best. the electric choke is the best choice out of the 3, pretty much set and forget. read up here: http://www.redlineweber.com/html/Types/making_the_right_choice.htm Quote Link to comment
